It’s that time of year when shopping for festive season gifts tends to take over our lives and the panic sets in as the shopping list grows. This year, why not treat someone special to something that will inspire and motivate them to achieve and stick to their health goals?

Here are Patrick’s favourite stocking fillers for friends and family focused on their health:

  1. Liquid form.
    If water be the source of life, spoil your loved ones this year with a water bottle that they can carry around with them and stay hydrated all the time. There are so many cool, funky and classic water bottles on the market at the moment that is an easy present to find. If you’re buying a plastic one, look for the BPA-free sticker which means the plastic is free from nasty chemicals that, over time, can seep into the water in the bottle, contaminating it and basically defeating the purpose! Even better, look for one that filters the water within the bottle meaning there’s always safe drinking water within arms’ reach.
  2. Oh, sweetie.
    Over the course of the festive season, it pretty much rains chocolate. Cleverly they’re often packaged as perfect little bite-size morsels of goodness, making the ideal little stocking filler. But think about it like this – would you give someone a vial of poison as a gift? We would hope not! Chocolate, which in general contains more sugar and trans-fats than cocoa, is pretty much that – poison to the body. If there are any chocolate lovers on your shopping list, get them some “unroasted”, 70% or higher, dark chocolate for their stocking. They’ll love you for it.
