Chocolate Chia Smoothie – taken from March 2015 of Natural Medicine
This is basically a healthy green smoothie hiding behind a bit of naturally-sweetened cacao. Chia seeds are among the healthiest foods on the planet. They are loaded with nutrients and are especially high in antioxidants, Omega 3 fatty acids, fibre and good quality protein.
- ½ banana, peeled
- 1 cup tightly packed fresh spinach
- I cup ice
- 1 cup of milk or even better, almond milk
- 3 Tbsp. of chia seeds
- 2 Tbsp. unsweetened cacao powder
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Add all the ingredients to a blender and pulse until smooth. Serve immediately.
