Another Healthy “Easter” Snack Idea

It’s Easter time again – which means your children will be expecting everything to be laced with chocolate. To this end, Patrick has thought up some clever ways to serve something healthy, while making sure that you don’t disappoint their imagination in the process.

Gluten Free, Dairy Free Superfood Breakfast Balls – By Jon Gabriel, taken from Natural Medicine Magazine

These super-food breakfast balls include omega 3-rich chia seeds; protein from the nuts and seeds and sulfur in the black sesame seeds (which are great for detoxification)

Ingredients:

½ cup almonds

1/3 cup pumpkin seeds

1/3 cup walnuts

¼ cup black sesame seeds

1/3 cup chia seeds

¼ cup almond butter

½ cup tahini

¼ cup coconut palm sugar

 Directions:

Combine all the ingredients in a food processor. If the mixture is not moist enough to make balls out of, add 2-3 tablespoons of water and continue mixing. Scoop out the mixture with tablespoon and mould into balls. Eat right away – or refrigerate. Lasts several days in the fridge.
