A Hundred ‘Sugar’ Deaths a Day

A documentary film ‘FED UP’, released last week in the US, shows how the food industry’s push on sugar, and the world’s Government’s complacency, has allowed sugar-related deaths, linked to diabetes and obesity, to hit epic proportions.

Take a look at this official trailer as a taster of the movie the sugar industry doesn’t want you to see. Although the movie focuses on the US – DON’T be fooled into thinking the same doesn’t apply to South Africa, and the rest of the world. Health 24 reports that “Three-and-a-half million South Africans (about 6% of the population) suffer from diabetes and there are many more who are undiagnosed. It is estimated that another five million South Africans have pre-diabetes, a condition where insulin resistance causes blood glucose levels to be higher than normal, but not high enough yet to be type 2 diabetes.”
